Every sexually active guy and girl should be tested regularly. It’s important for you to talk to a healthcare provider about how often is right for you, but here are some general guidelines for people under the age of 26:
ONCE PER YEAR if you’re in a relationship where you and your partner only have sex with each other and no one else.
At least EVERY 6 MONTHS if you suspect or know that your partner is also having sex with someone other than you.
At least EVERY 6 MONTHS if you have more than one partner.
EACH TIME you have a new sex partner.
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if your partner tests positive for an STD.
AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you or your partner has any symptoms, including:
unusual discharge from your genitals
a burning feeling when you urinate (pee)
genital itching
if you see one or more sores on your genital area
DURING YOUR 1ST TRIMESTER OFPREGNANCY (or as soon as you begin pre-natal care
